Change in Dismissal
Dear Holden Parents,
Dismissal is a very crazy time of the day. We are trying to make sure that students are getting messages that may impact how they are getting home. Most of our messages come into the office around 3:00 and we begin dismissing students at 3:10. If we miss a call and it is on voicemail we may not get the message until after students leave. We are asking for your help to insure that all students arrive home safely. If there is any change to your child’s dismissal procedure please call our office before 2:00 or send a note to your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your help.

Veterans’ Day Assembly
We will are changing our Veterans’ Day Assembly agenda due to the lack of responses. We would like for you to submit the names of any family members or friends that have served in the military that you would like to recognize on Friday, November 10th. The names will be displayed on the screen while our fifth grade students are reading about the different branches of the military. If the person you are recognizing can attend we will offer them special seating up front and ask that they sit with the Holden student that is recognizing them.
Please click on the link below to recognize a veteran. They do not need to attend the assembly to be recognized. Thank you for your help.

Ushering Kent State Basketball Games
Thank You Volunteers
Last night concluded our usher for Kent State Football. I would like to thank the people listed below. Without their help we wouldn’t have been able to raise over $4,000. If you weren’t able to help with football there is still time to help with ushering basketball. The winning classrooms for the pizza parties are Mrs. Longanecker, Mrs. Bates, Mrs. Weitzel, and Mrs. Kunkle. There was a tie for third place.
Many of these people volunteered for more than one game. I would also like to thank Mindy Uhrig who organized all the whole season and was in charge.

Visitor from Ghana
On Tuesday, April 24, 2018 we had a special visitor from Ghana. Solomon Amuzu is an environmentalist, social activist and permaculture expert in his home country. He organizes and mentors other elders and youth within his community to support gardening and nutritional outreach in schools, water and soil conservation, and efforts to make the earth a better place. Some of our fifth grade students show Solomon around the Holden garden explaining to him what happens at each grade level. Solomon will be back on Thursday, April 26 to visit the different grade levels. He will be sharing with the students pictures of his garden in Ghana, roadblocks he encountered and how he was able to overcome the roadblocks.
Solomon will also be speaking on Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30-8:30 at the Kent Student Center Kiva. This is a free event to attend.
